When you hurt, Jesus hurts

Bible Reading: Luke 8:53a, Matthew 9:24, & Mark 15:17-20

Jesus was made fun of by priests, teachers, soldiers – even demon-possessed people! For example, Luke 8:53a says, They laughed at him…” Then in Matthew 9:24 we read,

“He said, ‘Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.’ But they laughed at him,” and Mark 15:20 says, “And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.” [Emphasis added.] Jesus knows that when people laugh at you, you are hurt. He knows because he was hurt when people laughed at Him. Jesus knows how it feels to be laughed at!

Jesus understands how you feel and He cares. He has promised to always be with you, to give you the strength of character to endure people’s laughter, and the ability to choose to let God deal with the rude people who hurt you.

Jesus has also promised to give you a special blessing when you put up with being laughed at because of your faith in Him.

Remember, when you hurt, Jesus hurts, too.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11 & 12

Prayer: Heavenly Father, it hurts when people laugh at me, but it helps knowing that You understand and that I’m not alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
