Bible Reading: Matthew 27:14
Matthew 27:14 say, “But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge-to the great amazement of the governor.” How could Jesus do that? How could He listen to
people say things that were cruel lies and not try to defend Himself?
Jesus had learned to control Himself. Yes, Jesus was God, but He was also a man who could be tempted to talk back just like the rest of us. As a human man, Jesus had to learn to control his actions and His words. What great secret did Jesus know that helped Him to learn such incredible control over what He said and when He said it?
Jesus knew that whatever you thought about was what you would do and say. He knew that in order to be able to keep from saying the wrong things or saying things at the wrong time, He had to avoid thinking those kinds of things all of the time.
How well do you control what you say? Do you need to work on what kinds of thoughts are allowed to float around in your head?
“Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:5
Prayer: Heavenly Father, point out all wrong thoughts that are floating around in my head so that I can replace them with right thoughts. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
