Bible Reading: Matthew 21:1b-3, 6
Are you afraid that God will ask you to do something that you won’t be able to do?
I wonder if Jesus’ disciples felt the same way. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus gave
the disciples some instructions, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
Perhaps the disciples were afraid they wouldn’t be able to find the colt or perhaps they were afraid they would be accused of stealing the colt. Either way, they didn’t let fear keep them from obeying Jesus. Our Bible reading goes on to say that “…The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.”
God never gives us a job that we can’t do, with His help. He’s very specific in what He asks of us. Whenever He asks us to do a job for Him, He always provides us with everything we need to do that job.
If God asks you to do something for Him, He will tell you what to do, where to go, and how to do what He needs done. He will see to it that you have all the money and supplies that you need for the job. He will give you the ability to learn any skills, languages, customs, etc. that you need to learn.
God will never ask you to do a job that you aren’t capable of doing and He will never get you started doing a job then abandon you. He will be right there with you to provide the encouragement, strength, and knowledge that you need to complete the job.
All God asks is that you trust Him and do the job.
“I can do everything through him [God] who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
Prayer: Heavenly Father, with You there with me, I can do it! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
