Bible Verses to Explore: Romans 1:8-11
In Romans 1:9 Paul tells his friends, “Every time I pray, I always remember you.” Paul knew it was important to pray for his friends.
It is important that we pray for our friends, too.
When praying for our friend, what should we say?
If we pray for a friend who doesn’t know Jesus, the most important prayer we can pray is for his or her salvation.
When we pray for our Christian friends, we should pray that God will protect them from Satan. We should pray that God will use our friends to do His work. We should ask God to help our friends make good decisions and wise choices. We
should ask God to give our friends a strong character. We should ask God to give them patience to wait for His timing. We should ask God to give them the strength to face each day’s challenges.
Write a list of your friends’ names. Use that list as a reminder to pray for them every day.
Finally, if you start feeling your prayer life lag, remember the encouragement of Jude in Jude 1:20, “But you, dear friends, use your most holy faith to build yourselves up even stronger. Pray with the help of the Holy Spirit.” We aren’t praying alone! We have the unlimited power of the Holy Spirit helping us pray. How awesome!
