Wednesday at the Well: Romans 10:9 & Ephesians 5:2 - Jesus CHOSE to Die for You

Bible Verses to Explore: Romans 10:9 & Ephesians 5:2

Have you ever wondered why Jesus died for us?

Jesus didn’t have to die. He didn’t have to become human. He didn’t have to give

up riches and glory for rags and grief.

Jesus chose to set aside His riches, His glory, His power, His majesty – everything He had. Jesus chose to live as a man and endure all of the frustrations, temptations, and sufferings that people endure. Jesus chose to allow himself to be nailed onto a cross. Jesus chose to stay on that cross until he died. Jesus chose to allow himself to be buried and to stay buried for three days. Then, Jesus chose to raise himself from the dead and ascend into heaven to reclaim all that was rightfully his.

Jesus not only reclaimed the heavenly things that he’d set aside, Jesus also reclaimed us. He bought us back from the slavery of sin.

Why did Jesus choose to do all of those things? Jesus chose to do those things because HE LOVES YOU AND ME!

How can we ever thank Jesus for what He chose to do for us? First, obey the command of Romans 10:9b which says, “…confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Second, live the Ephesians 5:2 way. This verse says, “…live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

I hope you have accepted Jesus. I hope you are living a life of love as a fragrant thank offering and sacrifice to God?

In John 10:17b & 18 Jesus, Himself said, “I lay down my life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, thank You for all Jesus chose to do for us. Thank You for His willingness to give up so much for us. We want to give our lives to Him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
