Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 29:3-9 - God's Voice

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 29:3-9

We can often recognize a person just by his or her voice, even if we can’t see the person’s face. That’s because we’ve spent a lot of time with that person and listened

when he or she spoke. We’ve taken the time to get to know that person.

While we’ve never seen God, we can recognize God when he speaks to us, too. We can learn to recognize God’s voice. How do I know that? Psalm 29:4 gives us a wonderful description of God’s voice. This verse reads, “The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.”

If you want to be able to know God’s voice when you hear it, here’s what you need to do:

* Spend time in God Word. The Bible is one of the ways God talks to us.

* Be willing to listen to God. You can’t learn to recognize a voice that you refuse to listen to.

* Pray. The more time you spend talking to God, the more opportunities he has to speak to you. The more he speaks, the more opportunities you have to listen to his voice and become more familiar with it.

I urge you, as Joshua urged the Israelites in Joshua 3:9, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God,” because as Psalm 12:6 says, “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.”

Let’s pray together. Heavenly Father, we love to hear Your voice! Help us to always listen closely to Your words. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
