Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 19:7-8 - Rules

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 19:7 & 8

Imagine – what would the world be like if we each made up our own rules?

One person might say it's okay to steal from anyone who has $10. Someone else might

say a person must have $5,000 before it is okay to steal from him. Who would be right? Who said it was wrong to steal, get revenge, hate, lie, or cheat in the first place?

It’s dangerous and confusing to make up our own rules. That’s why God created rules for us. God’s rules are absolutes. That means they never change and they are the same for everyone, everywhere – no exceptions. God's rules have always existed and always will exist. Verse 7 of our Bible reading tells us, “The Lord's teachings are perfect. They give strength to his people. The Lord's rules can be

trusted. They help even the foolish become wise.”

If we all follow God’s rules, we will know what behavior to expect from each other. We will know what is right and what is wrong because, ‘The Lord's laws are right. They make people happy. The Lord's commands are good. They show people the right way to live” (Psalm 19:8).

Do you know God's unchanging rules?

You can learn about God's rules by reading the Bible. Start with Exodus 20, Matthew 5:43-48, and James 2 and 3.

Will you pray with me? Heavenly Father, teach us Your rules. Help us to always obey them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God bless!
