Wednesday at the well: Psalm 145:13b-16 - Five-Finger Discount

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 145:13b-16

Have you ever heard of the “five-finger discount”? That’s what it’s called when a person goes into a store and walks out with a 100% discount on an item. In other words –

shoplifting.

Using a five-finger discount may get you something for nothing, temporarily, but it is stealing. The Bible teaches us in Exodus 20:15, “You must not steal anything” Stealing shows that the thief doesn’t trust God to meet his needs. It also shows that the thief doesn't trust God’s timing.

God knows exactly what we need. God knows exactly the best time for us to get it, too. Verses 18 and 19 of today's Bible reading say, “The Lord is near to everyone who sincerely calls to him for help. He listens to his followers and does what they want. He

answers their prayers and saves them.” If we trust God and ask Him to give us the things we need, God is faithful. He will take care of us and give us everything we need! We don't need to rely on the five-finger discount.

I hope you trust God to take care of you. Ask God for whatever it is you need. I promise He will answer your prayer and take care of you! You just need to remember the promise found in Psalm 145:13b: “The Lord can be trusted in all that he says. He is loyal in all that he does.”

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, we to trust You to meet our needs perfectly. Give us patience to wait on Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks for visiting! I hope you will download the Inductive Bible Study Guide and reinforce your trust in God even more by studying today’s scripture verses.

God bless!
