Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 119:33-40 - Pay Attention to God's Teaching

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 119:33-40

Psalm 119:33 says, “Lord, teach me your laws,

and I will always follow them.” If we want God to teach us His laws, we must pay

attention.

We must to pay attention when our pastor is preaching and when our teachers are teaching. God’s word is important. We should treat it with respect. We should be eager to hear it.

Sometimes, it can be hard to pay attention when our pastors and teachers are speaking/signing. We get distracted by hunger, to do lists, and the temperature in the room.

Here are a few tips to help you stay focused during sermons and Bible study classes:

One, take time for your personal devotions before you go to church.

Two, plan to arrive at worship service or class a few minutes early then sit in the pew, and pray.

Three, while the preacher is preaching or the teacher is teaching, follow along in your Bible.

Four, take notes during the sermon or lesson.

I hope you will try these tips. I also hope these tips help you learn more from God’s word and grow in your faith.

Let’s pray together. Heavenly Father, help me to pay attention when your word is preached or taught. As it says in Psalm 119:34, help us to understand Your teachings and follow them because obeying Your teachings is our greatest desire. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
