Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 119:18 - Check the Facts

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 119:18

Do you believe everything you see on TV or in a movie or video? What if the program or movie is supposed to be based on the Bible?

Sadly, even TV programs and movies with a biblical origin can’t always be trusted to be completely true.

The Prince of Egypt is just one example. There are many places in this movie where the makers of the movie added to or deleted from the Bible’s account of the events. It is a fun, basically wholesome story, but it isn’t scripturally accurate.

Whenever you watch or read or listen to anything that claims to be based on the Bible, don’t just take what is presented at face value. Get out your Bible and double check the

facts.

Today’s Bible reading, Psalm 119:18, reads, “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” When we ask Jesus to open our eyes and help us see and understand the teachings of the Bible, He will do exactly that. That’s what he did for His disciples in Luke 24:45 – “Then he [Jesus] opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures” and that’s what He will do for you.

Use this verse as a prayer asking God to help you to teach you and give you wisdom and discernment. That way you can be sure that what you are being told is in the Bible really is in the Word of God. Let God open your eyes and help you to see and understand the truth. Luke

Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, give us the ability and desire to learn the truth about Your Word. Teach more about You and Your way of living each and every day as we spend time in Your word.

Thanks for stopping by! Please come again and come often. I love knowing you are here.

God bless!
