Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 119:165 - Don't Fall!

Bible Verses to Explore: Psalm 119:165

Could you turn off the lights in your room and still be able to walk around in your room without stumbling over the furniture?

I’m sure you could. Why? You are sensitive to your surroundings. If you begin to drift too close to the bed or a chair, you will almost automatically move away so that you won’t stub your toe.

Suppose you add a new chair to your room, you may need to learn to the new arrangement of the furniture again. You might even trip over that new chair a few times. Gradually, you learn the safest path. You learn to walk around that new chair.

Obeying God works something like that. At first you may not like doing something that God tells you to do. As you grow spiritually and continue doing the things God tells you to do you become sensitive to the boundaries He has for you. In other words, you learn where the “furniture” is. The more often you obey God, the more likely it becomes that you will move away from things that you might “fall” over. That’s what today’s Bible verse means when it says, “Those who love your teachings will find true peace. Nothing can make them fall.”

One more awesome reason to obey God – Our obedience makes God happy! Psalm 37:23 & 24 say, “If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”

Let’s pray together.

Heavenly Father, show us the safe path You have prepared for us. Help us to move around any dangers. Keep us from falling. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I’m glad you came today! See you soon.

God bless!
