Wednesday at the Well: Matthew 28:20 - Never Alone

Bible Verses to Explore: Matthew 28:20

“Every man is an island.”

Have you ever heard that statement?

In God’s eyes, that isn’t true. God created people to be a part of a family – His family.

Being alone is not what God planned for you. Being alone is what you are before you accept Christ. When you are alone you have to struggle with sin and temptation by yourself, you can’t escape God’s judgment, and you face certain death and separation from Christ forever.

Being a part of God’s family means God gives you His Spirit to be with you and help you fight sin and temptation. It means that God forgives your sin and frees you from the fear of His judgment. Being a member of God’s family means you will never be separated from Jesus Christ; you will be with Him forever. You will never, never be alone again. Jesus promised that in today’s Bible verse. He said, “You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.”

Do you feel alone? Do you feel like you are fighting sin and temptation by yourself? Ask Jesus to forgive you and send his Spirit to live in your heart, then cling to – maybe even memorize – Deuteronomy 31:6, which says, “Be strong and be brave. Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.” You will never be alone again.

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to save us from our sins and give us His Holy Spirit so we don’t ever have to be alone. It is such a comfort to know that You have promised to always be with us and never leave us so we are never alone – and we know You always keep Your promises! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
