Wednesday at the Well: Matthew 19:17 - Jesus' Thoughts Part 1

Bible Verses to Explore: Matthew 19:17

This is the first in a six part series on Jesus’ thoughts. Today and for the following five Wednesdays here at PH121 – Today, Tomorrow, & Forever! we will explore a

different thought of Jesus so we can learn how He thinks. Why is it important to understand how Jesus thinks? Matthew 18:14 says, “How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!” Jesus’ thoughts are great! They are amazing! They are incomparable! They are worth emulating. Once we have a better understanding of how Jesus thinks, we will be better able to think and live like Jesus. Let’s get started!

Have you ever wondered what Jesus thought about? For the next few days, we are going to explore Jesus’ thoughts. Today we will start with what Jesus thought about God,

His Father.

Throughout His time on earth, Jesus made a number of statements that explain what He thought about His Heavenly Father. For example, In Matthew 19:17 when a man called Jesus “good,” Jesus said, “There is only One who is good,” meaning that God, the Father was the only one who was truly good.

Jesus also thought of God as being forgiving (Matthew 6:14 & 15), merciful (Luke 6:36), loving (John 3:16), and desirous that we all be saved from our sin and given eternal life with God in heaven (Matthew 18:14).

If Jesus thought of His Heavenly Father in these ways, shouldn’t we think like Jesus?

Will you pray with me?

Heavenly Father, Jesus’ thoughts are perfect. Help us to model our own thoughts after Jesus so we will think and act like Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please check out the Monday and Friday devotional articles here at PH121 – Today, Tomorrow, & Forever! Then, remember to come back for each of the next five Wednesdays and join me for Wednesday at the Well as we continue our exploration and application of Jesus’ thoughts.

God bless!
