Wednesday at the well: Luke 12:13-34 - Greed, Selfishness, & Eternal life

Bible Verses to Explore: Luke 12:13-34

In today’s Bible reading, a young man came to see Jesus. The young man wanted Jesus to require the young man’s brother to share his inheritance.

Jesus took this opportunity to try to teach the young man, and us, that having many possessions in this world is not important. In verse 15 of today’s Bible reading Jesus said, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. People do not get life from the many things they own.” Jesus taught that possessing eternal life in heaven was much more important than possessing many earthly things.

Jesus wants us to possess eternal life in heaven, not try to own many temporary things here on earth. How can we possess eternal life heaven?

Tell God you are sorry for your sins. Tell Him you believe Jesus died for your sins. Ask God to forgive your sins. When you do this, you will have accepted Jesus’ gift of eternal life.

Then, you can begin to thank God for giving you eternal life in heaven by serving Him, not your own selfish desires. How? Worship God. Read your Bible. Pray. Help other people to see and experience God’s love and forgiveness, then you will be truly rich!

Please, pray with me…Heavenly Father, forgive our sins. Help us to always remember to serve You as we wait to start our eternal lives in heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks for reading and thanks for praying with me. Please download the Inductive Bible Study Guide and continue your quiet time with God.

God bless!
