Wednesday at the Well: John 5:30 - Make God Happy (Part 1)

Verse to Explore: John 5:30

In the second half of today’s Bible verse, Jesus said, “I am not trying to please myself. I want only to please the one who sent me.” Jesus’ never did things to make Himself happy.

Everything Jesus did, He did to make God happy.

We should be like Jesus. Everything we do, we should do to make God happy.

Why should we want to make God happy?

First we should want to make God happy, because God is God. God is wonderful, loving, patient, kind, and so much more! Doing things that make God happy is a wonderful way to say, “Thank You, God. I love You!”

Second, we should want to make God happy because it is good for other people. Helping other people, showing them love, kindness, compassion, and generosity allows

those people to see a little of God’s love. It causes them to want God to be a part of their lives, too.

Finally, we should want to make God happy because it is good for us. When we do things to make God happy, God blesses us. He give us good things. He honors us. He adds to the rewards that He is preparing for us in Heaven.

I hope you will always want to do things that make God happy, starting today!

Let me leave you with the words of Paul from 1 Thessalonians 4:1 & 2 – “Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.”

Let’s end our time together in prayer. Heavenly Father, we want You to be happy with everything that we do. Help us to live in such a way that that is exactly what happens. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks for joining me today! Remember to download the Inductive Study Guide and I’ll see you next time!
