Wednesday at the Well: John 4:39 - Share Your Faith

Bible Verses to Explore: John 4:1-39

Have you ever thought it would be nice to tell people about God and His message of salvation the same way Jesus did?

John 4 gives us a good picture of Jesus’ “Seven Steps to Sharing the Salvation Story.”

1. Start with a topic familiar to the person you are talking to (verse 4).

2. Connect that topic to the salvation message in a way that catches their interest (verse 10).

3. Make them curious so they will ask questions about the salvation message (verse 15).

4. Tell them how Jesus has affected your life. That will help them to want a similar

relationship with Jesus (verses 16, 17).

5. Answer their questions as clearly as you can (verses 19-24).

6. Carefully explain that Jesus is the promised Messiah and Savior (verses 19-24).

7. Encourage them to publicly tell others of their new belief and faith (verses 28-31, 39).

I hope you remember the advice Paul gave to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:8, “So don’t be ashamed to tell people about our Lord Jesus. And don’t be ashamed of me – I am in prison for the Lord. But suffer with me for the Good News. God gives us the strength to do that.” I also hope you will practice telling people about God and His plan the same way Jesus did. When you tell people what Jesus has done in your life, they begin to want Him in their lives. That’s what happened when the woman at the well told the people in her town about Jesus. John 4:39 says, “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, ‘He told me everything I ever did.’”

Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, help us to reach others with the gospel as Jesus did. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
