Wednesday at the Well: James 2:14-26 - God Wants to Use You to Answer Your Prayers

Bible Verses to Explore: James 2:14-26

Do you ever feel like you’ve prayed then had to wait. . . and wait. . . and wait for an answer? Maybe it’s you, not God, that’s the hold-up.

James 2:26 says, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead,” and verse 28b says, “Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.” That means, our faith should manifest – make itself visible – to other people itself through our actions. In other words, when we pray, we should be willing to let God use us to answer our prayers.

How can you be the answer to your own prayers? When you’ve finished praying, take time to listen to God. Give God the chance to tell you how you answer the prayer. Then

think about your prayer. Even a little action can be used by God to bring about or be the answer to your prayer.

For example:

* If you ask God to cheer up a hurting person, you can then make or send a card to that friend.

* If you ask God to save someone, you can tell that person about Jesus.

* If you ask God to send the gospel into other countries, you can give money to mission work.

* if you pray for a special blessing for someone, you can tell that person how much you appreciate him or her.

* If you pray that someone you know will come to church, you can keep inviting him or her and offering a ride.

Letting God use you to answer your prayers and the prayers of others will open up the floodgates of God’s blessings.

Why not give it a try?

Please, pray with me. Heavenly Father, use us, to answer our own prayers and the prayers of others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
