Bible Verses to Explore: James 2:14-18
What would happen if you took all the air out of your car’s or bicycle’s tires?
The tires wouldn’t be able to roll properly. The air makes it possible for the tires to
do their work. You can’t and shouldn’t use the tires without first filling them with air. At the same time, air alone can’t replace the rubber and metal of the tires. The air and tires work together to do the job of allowing your car or bike to roll freely down the street.
Just like your tires won’t roll without air, good deeds without faith won’t save you or get you into heaven and believing in Jesus without doing good deeds fails to show others your faith. That’s exactly what verse 17 & 18 of today’s Bible verse teaches: “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is
dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.”
Air and tires work together to make a useful way to move your car or bicycle down the street.
Faith and good deeds work together to move your Christian life down the street from being something you say you have to being something people see that you have.
Will you pray with me? Father God, we believe in Jesus. Use our faith to keep our work for You rolling down the road. We know that the only way to heaven is by Your grace through our faith in Jesus Christ. We also know that our deeds, the good things we do in obedience to You, show our love and appreciation to You and prove our faith to others. Help us to obey You out of our love for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanks for joining me today!
Until next time…God bless!
