Bible Verses to Explore: Isaiah 40:9-11
Verse 11 of our Bible reading says, “Like a good shepherd, the Lord takes care of his people. He gathers them like lambs in his arms. He holds them close, while their mothers
walk beside him.” The good shepherd in this verse is Jesus. Jesus doesn’t just say He cares about us, He shows us His love by His actions.
The New Testament is full of examples of how Jesus showed people that He cared about them. In Luke 18, Jesus gave sight to a blind man. In Luke 7 He brought a widow’s dead son back to life. In Mark 2 Jesus made a paralyzed man walk again. In Matthew 14 fed the hungry crowd. In Luke 17 He healed ten lepers. In Matthew 19 Jesus welcomed the little children. The people around Jesus knew He loved them and cared about them because
His actions proved His love.
I hope you will follow the example of our Good Shepherd. I hope you will prove to people that you care by the things you do for them by actively living the command of 1 John 3:18 – “My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love must be real. We must show our love by the things we do.”
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, help us show people we care, just like Jesus, the Good Shepherd cares for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
