Wednesday at the Well: Hebrews 10:2-18 - Jesus, the Oldest Brother

Bible Verses to Explore: Hebrews 10:2-18

Matthew 13:55 tells us that Jesus had at least four brothers, James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. He might have had sisters, too.

Jesus had to be an example for his brothers and sisters. Jesus had to do all the things that big brothers and sisters have to do without complaining or arguing with his parents. Jesus was the perfect brother. Why? Because He knew we couldn’t be perfect brothers or sisters.

Jesus knew that we would be impatient – so He was patient for us.

Jesus knew that we would be unkind – so He was kind for us.

Jesus knew that we wouldn't always be understanding– so He was compassionate for

us.

Jesus knew that we would grumble and complain about helping our brothers and sisters– so He worked without complaint for us.

Verses 12 & 14 of today's Bible reading says, “Christ offered only one sacrifice for sins, and that sacrifice is good for all time… With one sacrifice Christ made his people perfect forever. They are the ones who are being made holy.” Jesus died one time to be the punishment for all of our sin, including the sin of not being a perfect brother or sister or mother or father. Jesus died so we could be forgiven and be given eternal life in heaven.

Have you thanked him?

Let’s do that together.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Jesus, the perfect brother. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Thanks for joining me for this week’s Wednesday at the Well. Please, download the Inductive Study Guide and spend a bit more time in worship and thanksgiving as you study God’s word.

God bless!
