Bible Verses to Explore: 2 Timothy 3:14-16
The Bible is God's message to us. Some people try to keep their Bibles in perfect condition. They don't want any dirt on the cover. They don't want any marks on the
pages. They don’t want any creases or tears on the pages.
It is good to take care of your Bible and respect it, but the Bible is meant to be read and understood. We need to remember Paul's words in verse of today's Bible reading: “Using the Scriptures, those who serve God will be prepared and will have everything they need to do every good work.” Sometimes it even helps us to understand the Bible if we write in our Bibles.
If you choose to write in your Bible, use an ink pen, colored pencils, or special Bible highlighter markers. You can use different colors to mark different things. For example,
underline or highlight your favorite verses with red or pink. Mark verses that you’ve memorized with blue. Mark John 3:16 or Romans 10:9, 10 with green.
Challenge yourself to add to the favorite verses and memory verses regularly. Also challenge yourself to use John 3:16 or Romans 10:9, 10 to show someone you know how to be saved.
I hope you take time each day to read the Bible and maybe write in it, too!
Why? As 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, “All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live.” Take care of your Bible, read it faithfully, and God will use it to take care of you.
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, we want to better understand the Bible. Please teach us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
