Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1:7
Test your courage by taking the following quiz. Read the questions below then choose one of these answers:
a) Never
b) Always
c) Sometimes
d) Most of the time
1. How often do you take advantage of a clear opportunity to tell someone about Jesus?
2. How often do you choose to do the right thing?
3. How often do you choose to resist the temptation to do wrong?
Unless your answer was “b” to all of these questions, your courage could use a boost.
Courage is like having a glass full of cool, refreshing ice water. If you don’t pick up the glass, pour the water into your mouth, and swallow, it can’t quench your thirst.
Our Bible verse tells us, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” When we give our lives to Jesus, He gives us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has all of the courage we could possible need to get us through any situation. We just have to reach out and take hold of it and let it fill us.
“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.” Philippians 1:20
Prayer: Lord God, I want to claim the courage You’ve given me through your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
