Bible Reading: 2 Peter 3:9
How do you react when you’ve only got one nerve left and someone is stepping on it?
Wouldn’t it be nice if we would always have enough patience to treat other people
kindly and gently no matter how hard they stomp on our one remaining nerve?
Thankfully, God is able to have that much patience with us. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” Patience, sometimes called longsuffering, is a part of what God is. God suffers a long, long time and through much more nerve stomping than we could ever dream of enduring! God loves us so much that he is willing to suffer through
almost anything we put him through. He patiently suffers through our sin and disobedience hoping that we will come to believe that Jesus is God and that Jesus died for our sins. God wants us to believe that, ask his forgiveness for our sins, and let him take the lead in our lives.
Aren’t you glad God is so patient when you are disobediently stomping on his last nerve?
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
Prayer: God, thank You for being so patient with me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
