Are your parents perfect? Mine aren't. Are you a perfect parent? I'm not. While most parents try, none are always loving, always patient, nor always understanding. No
parent is always right, always willing to listen, nor always there when their child needs him or her. No parent can be perfect all of the time. Most try. Many don’t.
Thankfully, we have one parent who is always loving, always patient, and always understanding. This “perfect parent” is always right, will always listen, and is always there when we need him. Even when our human parents let us down because of their human weaknesses, we can always rely on this perfect, dependable parent.
Who is that perfect parent? God, our Heavenly Father. In today's Bible reading God, Himself says, “I will be your father, and you will be my sons and daughters.”
How can you have God as your personal, perfect parent? Ask Him. Tell Him you know you've done wrong. Tell Him you are sorry. Tell Him you believed Jesus died so you could live in heaven forever with God, your perfect Heavenly Father and you will become one of His children, just as it says in Romans 8:15, “The Spirit that we have makes us God's chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
I'm praying that you ask God to be your Heavenly Father today.
