Wednesday at the Well: 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6 and Colossians 1:13 & 14 - Redeemed

Bible Verses to Explore: 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6; Colossians 1:13 & 14

Pretend that your car was stolen.

Then pretend that you found the thief who took your car.

Now pretend that the thief has agreed to let you have your car back – but you must pay for it!

You already own the car. It’s yours, but, you agree to pay the thief the price he asks for the car.

What just happened?

You just redeemed your car. You paid for something that you already owned.

That’s what God did for us. We belonged to God. He made us. We are his.

Then sin came into the world and took us away from God. Colossians 1:13-14say, “God

made us free from the power of darkness. And he brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son. The Son paid the price to make us free. In him we have forgiveness of our sins.

God bought us back from sin. The price? Jesus’ blood! God sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay the price necessary to redeem us – to “buy” us back – from the slavery of sin. 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6 tells us that this is the one and only way to be redeemed, to be forgiven of our sin and given eternal life with God. These verses read, “There is only one God, and there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who as a man gave himself to pay for everyone to be free. This is the message that was given to us at just the right time.”

I hope you will thank God for redeeming you from sin. Then give God was is already His – your love, your obedience, and your service.

Will you pray with me, please?

Heavenly Father, thank You for redeeming me. Help me to always love, obey, and serve You. I pray that everyone who reads this article will choose to ask for Your forgiveness, turn away from his or her sin, and allow You to redeem them through the redeeming blood of Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank You for coming today!
