Bible Verses to Explore: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
Purity is controlling your mind and controlling your body.
How can we control our minds and bodies?
First, study the Bible. Learn how God wants us to behave. Then we will be able to resist temptation.
Second, avoid impure thoughts. Why? Whatever we think about we will eventually do.
Third, remember that our bodies belong to God. Verse 7 of today's Bible reading reminds us, “God chose us to be holy. He does not want us to live in sin.” God wants us to allow Him to control our thoughts and our actions.
Fourth, help each other to live pure, holy lives. We should remind each other, in love, to
think and act in ways that keep our bodies and minds pure. Galatians 6:1 tells us, “Brothers and sisters, someone in your group might do something wrong. You who are following the Spirit should go to the one who is sinning. Help make that person right again, and do it in a gentle way. But be careful, because you might be tempted to sin too.” That means that we are to help each other live pure, holy lives.
I hope you keeping yourself pure for God. Why? “God wants you to be holy. He wants you to stay away from sexual sins. 4 God wants each one of you to learn to control your own body. Use your body in a way that is holy and that gives honor to God” (1 Thessalonians 4:3 & 4).
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, keep our lives pure for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
