Wednesday at the Well: 1 Peter 4:7-11 - Shoestrings

Bible Verses to Explore: 1 Peter 4:7-11

Do you remember the tennis shoes your parents bought for you when you were a teenager? Do you remember the first time you put them on? Did your mom or dad tie

them for you?

Probably not. They took you shopping. Maybe they helped you pick out the shoes. Maybe they even paid for them, but they expected you to be grown up enough to tie them yourself.

God gives us many gifts, too. He gives some of us the ability to sing. He gives others the ability to write. To some, he gives gifts like the ability to speak in public or paint or draw.

Whatever gift God has given to each of us, he won’t use them for us. Verse 10 of our Bible reading tells us, “God has shown you his grace in many different ways. So be good

servants and use whatever gift he has given you in a way that will best serve each other.” God expects us to be grown up enough spiritually to use those gifts He gave us to serve Him and other people.

What gifts has God given you?

Let’s all “Remember to use the gift you have, which was given to you through a prophecy when the group of elders laid their hands on you” (1Timothy 4:14).

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, show us how to use the gifts that You’ve given us, then I’ll get busy using them to help people learn about Jesus and how to live Your way and to bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time…God bless!
