Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 9:25
1Corinthians 9:25 says, “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” That
means it is a good idea to exercise and take care of our physical muscles and an even better idea to take care of our “spiritual muscles.”
What kind of workout is needed to keep your “spiritual muscles” strong and healthy?
Start with some weightlifting. Lift your Bible and do a few sets of “page-turns” while reading the Bible.
Next, give your heart and lungs a workout with some “aerobic praying.” Several minutes speaking with God everyday is a great jump-start for your spiritual pulse.
Finally, do some stretches. Stretch out of your comfort zone by helping other people. Don’t stop stretching when you’ve helped your family and friends. Stretch a little further and help out your enemies, too.
This workout needs to be done regularly for maximum benefit to your spiritual health. A daily workout is best.
Are your spiritual muscles getting the exercise they need?
If not, why wait to start exercising them?
