Wednesday at the Well: 1 Corinthians 1:25 - Water Slowly!

This is a special Wednesday at the Well post. It is the 200th Wednesday at the Well post that I have written! It doesn’t seem possible, but it is true! Thanks for going on this ride with me. I am praying that the ride lasts for many years to come.

Bible Verses to Explore: 1 Corinthians 1:25

Did you know that when you water a plant you should pour the water slowly? Why? The soil needs time to absorb the water. If you pour the water into the pot too quickly, the

plant can’t accept the water. The water will run out of the bottom of the pot. It is best for the plant if we water slowly.

Sometimes we think, “Why does God allow bad things to happen?” We wonder why God doesn’t fix the world or why He doesn’t give us all the blessings that He’s promised right now.

Our Bible reading, 1 Corinthians 1:25, says, “Even the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom. Even the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” We may not understand why God does the things He does. We simply need to trust Him. Why? Even things that God does that seem silly to us are wiser than our wisest decision. We know that God is wiser than we are because Jeremiah 51:15 says, “The Lord used his great power and made the earth. He used his wisdom to build the world and his understanding to stretch out the skies.” God is wise enough to be able to make the whole universe, while we are barely wise enough to make a bed!

In His great wisdom, God knows that we are like that plant. He knows He must “water” us slowly. That means God must move slowly in our lives and in our world so that we can learn to accept His decisions and His plans. Everything God does is timed perfectly to help us grow in our faith. Trust Him.

Let’s pray our 200th prayer together. Heavenly Father, thank You for being patient and wise enough to “water” us slowly. Help us to grow in my faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks, again, for visiting each week. I hope these devotions and the free Inductive Study Guide have been and continue to bless you and your daily time with God.

One last detail…Wednesday at the Well is taking a break for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. The next Wednesday at the Well post will be up on the first Wednesday of 2022. Next Wednesday, I will post a special Thanksgiving post. Then, for the next couple of weeks on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I will post a special series of Christmas devotions. Enjoy all of these posts, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas, and be sure to return the first Wednesday of 2022 for the next Wednesday at the Well study.

God bless!
