Want Wisdom?

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 4:29

In 1 Kings 4:29 we read that “God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.” Solomon was the

wisest man that ever lived. However, Solomon’s great wisdom didn’t come from years of study or from his intensive observations of people. Solomon only had the wisdom that he had because God gave it to him.

Solomon’s wisdom wasn’t his own. His wisdom was God’s wisdom, given to Solomon because He asked God for it.

Sadly, we aren’t like Solomon. We don’t have the special, abundant wisdom that Solomon was graced with, but God will give you wisdom if you ask Him for it. James 1:5 assures us of God’s promise to give to do just that saying, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

What’s the catch? James goes on to give the only condition that God has for giving us the wisdom that we ask Him for: “But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt…”

In other words, when you ask God to give you wisdom, you have to trust Him to do it.

It’s as simple as that. Do you want wisdom? Ask God – then trust Him.

“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.” Proverbs 3:13

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I need Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
