True Beauty

Bible Reading: Proverbs 31:30

Proverbs 31:30 says, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” The truth of this verse goes beyond women to include

everyone – male and female.

Humans spend a huge amount of time trying to look good. We expend great quantities of energy and suitcases full of money to have clear skin, shiny hair, the perfect washboard stomach, and the latest fashions and fads. We rub on, pull over, tuck, pierce, dye, suck in, and suck out, all in the name of looking good.

However, the good looks we gain by all of that work is short lived. Eventually, we all give in to age, wrinkles, sagging, and bulging. The attraction of attaining physical beauty is truly deceptive. Just as the Venus’s Flytrap draws attention to itself through its beautiful flowers then traps its prey, physical looks, attract us then trap us with a false sense of security.

True beauty is an internal beauty that draws others to you and in turn, it draws them to Christ. True beauty comes only from having Christ in your heart and letting His beauty shine through your life.

Beautify yourself – accept Christ today.

“But the LORD said to Samuel, “…The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to pray using the words of Albert Osborn. Father…“Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me, All His wonderful passion and purity; O Thou Spirit divine. All my nature refine Til the beauty of Jesus my Savior be seen in me.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.
