Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1:7
Obeying God is a challenge, and when you’ve developed habits that displease God, obeying Him is even harder. Your natural impulse will be to keep doing the same old
things that you’ve always done. “Old habits die hard,” as they say.
However, You don’t need to beg God to give you the strength to ignore those sinful impulses and obey Him. According to 2 Timothy 1:7, “…God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” God has already given you the power you need to break free of those ugly, old habits.
When you accepted Christ as your Savior, He sent His Holy Spirit to live in you and to empower you to resist your natural impulses. The Holy Spirit’s presence in your life also guarantees that you have all the strength you need to obey God. You simply have to claim this power and use it.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to use the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me to break free of old habits and obey You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
