Bible Reading: Romans 10:9-13
Everyone has special foods that they like to eat on Thanksgiving. To make each of those foods, the cook needs to follow a recipe. A recipe tells the cook what ingredients to us. It
also explains the steps required to change those ingredients to make them become something different and special.
Romans 10:9-13 contains another kind of recipe, the recipe for salvation. These verses give the ingredients necessary for us to be saved from our sin: confession, belief, and calling on God.
These verses also explain the steps required to use these individual ideas to make us new and special in God’s eyes. What are these steps?
One: “Confess with your mouth” (verse 9). That means saying out loud that you have disobeyed God and want to change.
Two: “Believe in your heart” (verse 9). That means being completely convinced that Jesus died because of your sin then rose again in now lives in heaven.
Three: Call “on the name of the Lord” (verse 13) to be saved. That means asking God to forgive your sins and give you eternal life in heaven.
I hope you will follow God’s recipe for salvation today…then you will really have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:10
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect recipe for salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
