Thank You - Two Small but Powerful Words

Bible Reading: Psalm 136:1-26

“Thank you.” Just two little words, but they say a lot. They also mean a lot to those who hear them.

Hearing a heartfelt, “Thank you” makes a person feel appreciated. “Thank you” encourages. “Thank you” fills a person with a warm happiness. Having heard “Thank you” makes a person want to do more of the same kind, thoughtful acts that he or she was thanked for doing. We all love hearing “Thank you.”

God is no different. He loves hearing us say “Thank you.” He loves it when we thank other people and He loves it when we thank Him.

Psalm 136 is filled with reasons why we should tell God, “Thank You,” starting right in the first verse which says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” This verse alone gives three reasons to thank God: He is Lord. He is good. His love endures forever.

I encourage you to reread Psalm 136. Take out a pen and paper. Write down all the reasons for saying, “Thank You, God,” that you can find. Then take a few minutes and thank Him for each one of them.

“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:26

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for all You are and for all You do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
