Test Your Zeal for god

Bible Reading: Romans 12:11

Romans 12:11 says, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” That zeal for God and the things of God will be visible in our lives. The more zeal

we have, the more of our time will be spent in things of eternal value. Here’s a way to test your zeal:

Let’s assume that you sleep the usual eight hours each night. That leaves you with 16 hours each day to use however you wish. So, how do you spend that time? Test yourself on how wisely you use your time by asking yourself the following questions. Add up the hours you spend each week:

* In school.

* At work.

* Doing homework.

* Paying bills.

* Doing house or yard work.

* Doing other chores around home.

* Watching TV.

* On the Internet.

* Playing Computer Games.

* Eating.

* Playing sports.

* Listening to music.

* Reading.

* Driving a car or riding a bus.

* Just “passing the time.”

* Praying and reading the Bible.

* Doing volunteer work.

* Attending worship services, Bible studies, or Sunday School classes.

Now, evaluate your answers. How much of your time is spent on temporary things? How much is spent on eternal things? Is God getting the time He deserves from you? What changes do you need to make to increase your zeal for the Lord?

“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37-38

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’ve been neglecting You. Forgive me. From now on, I’m going to give You all the time You deserve from me.
