Take Responsibility

Bible Reading: Genesis 4:9

It’s no fun to be unfairly accused or wrongly blamed for something that you didn’t do.

However, when we are guilty of doing something – hurting someone’s feelings, damaging someone’s property, disobeying our parents or God, breaking a law – we need to take responsibility for our actions. We need to accept the blame.

Cain neglected to do that. God offered Cain the opportunity to confess his evil deeds and ask forgiveness saying in Genesis 4:9, “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ ‘I don't know,’ he [Cain] replied. ‘Am I my brother's keeper?’” Instead, Cain chose to try to pass the blame for his actions onto someone else. He gave up the opportunity to be forgiven by not accepting the blame – the responsibility – for his own actions.

Are you trying to pass the blame for something that you did on to someone or something else? Take back the responsibility for your actions. Accept the blame that belongs to you and ask for forgiveness.

“He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to always take responsibility for my actions. In Jesus name. Amen.
