Significance

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 4:7 & 8 & Matthew 16:24-28

How will you know if you have “finished the race” and “kept the faith”? By what standard will you measure the significance of your life?

* The amount of money you have earned?

* The number of people who recognize your name or face?

* The value of your car, house, or other assets?

* The quantity of college degrees that you have earned?

* The quantity of friends that you have?

* The number of “good deeds” that you have done?

* The amount of hours you spent in church?

God doesn’t assess the value of our life using any of those measures. The only thing that God sees as having any significance to how valuable our life is, is how obedient we are to Him. If we refuse to obey God and do whatever He asks of us, nothing else matters. Our life is without significance.

Are you living in obedience to God? Are you continually willing to set aside your plans for God’s plans?

I pray that, when our lives here on earth are done, we can say with the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” I pray that we are living our lives in a way that will have significance and that will leave an eternal legacy that is pleasing to God.

“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.” Matthew 16:26 & 27

Prayer: Heavenly Father, make Your way my way. I want my life to mean something to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
