Sexual Sin

(This post may not be popular, but it is biblical. It is what the Bible teaches. It is not my personal opinion.)

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:2 & 3

Any sexual intimacy outside of marriage is sin; it is wrong. God doesn’t simply dislike sexual sin – He hates it.

However, God showed us, through Jesus, how we are to treat the person who commits sexual sin. While Jesus hated all sexual sin, just as God the Father does, Jesus loved the person who committed such sin. Jesus treated each person caught in sexual sin with respect and compassion. He forgave the woman caught in adultery in John 8:4-11. He shared God’s love and plan of salvation with the woman who had multiple husbands in John 4.

There are many kinds of sexual sin including adultery, premarital sex, pornography, and homosexuality. They are all sin. Jesus hates all kinds of sexual sin, but He loves every single person who is caught in the trap of sexual sin and wants to set them free.

However, God has promised to not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. He has made a way for us to avoid sexual sin. 1 Corinthians 7:2 & 3 say, “But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.” God gave us marriage. He wants us to be free to enjoy sex the way God planned for people to enjoy sex – within a marriage involving one man and one woman united for a lifetime..

Are you caught in the trap of sexual sin? Ask Jesus to set you free.

“It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to remain pure. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
