Seek first

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

Bible Reading: Psalm 34:4

In Psalm 34:4 David said, “I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

Are you like David? Are you seeking answers to your prayers?

Once you have sincerely asked God’s forgiveness for your sins, He has promised to hear and answer your prayers.

If the answers to your prayers still seem slow in coming, God may be telling you to seek something else first. Something like:

* God’s Word (Isaiah 34:16). Read the Bible more often.

* God’s precepts (Psalm 119:45). Go beyond reading, and study the Bible. Learn what it truly teaches.

* God’s commands (1 Chronicles 28:8). Go past asking God for things and begin listening to His instructions.

* God’s kingdom (Luke 12:31). Selflessly put aside your wants, look for and act on ways to give God what He wants – more people in heaven.

* God’s righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Worship and admire God’s holiness and goodness – then imitate it.

* God’s strength and endurance (Romans 15:5). God still may choose to make you wait for an answer. If so, He’ll give you the strength and patience to wait.

I encourage you to seek all thing things of God first and above all else. When you do, “he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive me for putting my wants ahead of You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
