Bible Reading: Proverbs 14:12
These statements are based on relativism. Relativism says that there is nothing that is always right or always wrong. In other words, if I want to steal, it’s okay for me to steal. If
you don’t think it’s okay to steal, then don’t steal, but don’t take away my right to steal. Nothing is always right or always wrong, it all depends on the circumstances. Relativism ignores other’s feelings and points of view and the short-term and long-term consequences of self-serving behavior.
Relativism isn’t godly behavior. The Bible teaches that some things are always right and some things are always wrong and for those things that do fall into “gray areas”, we should always act out of love.
God’s way of doing things isn’t popular with relativists because they don’t want anyone – not even God – telling them how to live their lives. They want total freedom to do as they choose, even if it leads to their own destruction.
As a child of God, you should live a godly life. That includes recognizing that there are things that are always right to do, like loving and respecting other people, and that there are things that are always wrong to do, like killing people or stealing. Living a godly life means recognizing that “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).
Are you living a life of self-serving relativism or are you living a godly life?
“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.” Acts 22:16
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I don’t want to live just any old way. I want to live Your way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
