Perpetual Hope

Bible Reading: Job 13:15

Job certainly had reason to give up hope. He had lost everything he had.

· His property.

· His livestock.

· His livelihood.

· His family.

· His health.

All that remained was his wife and a pile of ashes. He, of all people, was certainly entitled to become bitter, angry, resentful, and hopeless.

However, Job remained hopeful. He continued to worship, thank, and praise God. He refused to give up on God. He refused to admit that God had abandoned him. In Job 13:15, Job said, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.” Job’s example of perpetual hope is an encouragement to us. It spurs us on to continually keep our hope in God alive and vibrant.

When hard times or difficult situations saturate your life, do you become hopeless and give up on God, or, like Job, do you cling to God, stubbornly refusing to give up hope that God will always be there with you, continuing to take care of you?

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Prayer: Heavenly Father, when times are hard, I struggle to keep hoping in You. Help me to keep my eyes focused on YOU not on the struggle. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
