Bible Reading: Acts 1:9
Acts 1:9 says, “After he [Jesus] said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.” This verse is describing an event known as “The
Ascension” – Jesus’ return to heaven, alive, after His death and resurrection.
The Ascension isn’t a mythical story. It’s an historical occurrence. After being seen alive and breathing by dozens, maybe hundreds, of people, Jesus return to heaven in the clouds was also witnessed by many people.
Why is Jesus’ Ascension important to you and me today?
If Jesus didn’t come back to life after he died on the cross, then return to heaven alive, we have no hope of being forgiven of our sins. No hope of being able to go to heaven. No hope of being reunited with God and our loved ones.
In fact, Jesus’ Ascension is the only hope we have.
“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.” Mark 16:19
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m glad that Jesus ascended into heaven and that He is waiting for me there. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
