Romans 3:10 & 10:9-13
At one time, a well-known potato chip manufacturer advertised it’s chips with a jingle that included the words, “no one can eat just one.” Eating only one of these potato chips
was supposed to be impossible.
While there may well be someone, somewhere who could prove this potato chip maker wrong and succeed in eating only one chip, no one can prove God wrong when He says in Romans 3:10 that “There is no one righteous, not even one.” God has made it clear that everyone sins; no one is without guilt.
The result? We are all – every one of us – doomed to spend eternity separated from God in hell.
However, Jesus lived a perfect, sinless human life. If we accept His sinless life in trade for our sin-full lives, we can move past the impossibility of not being righteous through our own abilities and into the possibility of being made righteous through Jesus. Then we’ll be able to enjoy the place God has prepared for us in heaven.
Have you confessed your sin to God, asking for His forgiveness and salvation? Have you accepted Jesus’ death on the cross as the punishment that was due to you for your sin? I hope so, but, if you haven’t done that yet, I urge you to do it now. Why? God has promised that “if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know I can’t be righteous myself, so I accept Your righteousness as my own. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
