Bible Reading: Revelation 2:1-7
Do you feel like you take God for granted? Perhaps you neglect Him because you know He will always be there and will always forgive you, answer your prayers, and take care
of your needs, so you casually put off spending time with Him. Perhaps you have forgotten how wonderful it felt when you first fell in love with God.
That’s what happened to the church at Ephesus. Through the Apostle John, God wrote to this church saying, “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love” (Revelation 2:4).
Try doing the following to turn your humdrum relationship with God into a high priority relationship:
* Make a special daily appointment to talk to God.
* Create a journal in which you write daily love letters to God, detailing how much you love Him and why.
* Set aside a daily time to read God’s Love Letter (The Bible) to you.
* Talk about God often. Tell other people how wonderful God is. Tell them about all of the great things that He has done and is doing for you.
If your first love for God has faded, I urge you to do whatever is necessary to rekindle that love so that you can say with the psalmist, “I love you, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1).
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are the most special person in my life. I love You! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
