Look & Live

Bible Reading: John 3:14, 15

When the Israelites rebelled against God, He was forced to punish them. He sent poisonous snakes to bite and kill them. When the snakes began having their affect, the

people cried out in anguish and begged God to forgive them and save them from the poisonous serpents. God, in His great compassion answered their prayer. He had Moses make a snake out of bronze and hold it up on a pole. Anyone who looked up at the snake and believed that God would heal them was saved from death.

We, too, have disobeyed God and rebelled against Him. Therefore, God has been forced to punish us. Our punishment is death – eternal separation from God.

However, just as God showed compassion and saved the Israelites from the serpents, God is willing to show us compassion and save us from our punishment. God sent Jesus to be lifted up and die on a cross to be punished in our place. “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life” (John 3:14 & 15). If we look to Jesus and believe that he can save us from our eternal punishment, we will be saved. We will live forever in heaven.

Why are you waiting? Look to Jesus now.

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m looking to You for forgiveness and salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
