Live with Eternity in Mind

Bible Reading: Luke 12:40

Everything in this life on earth leads toward our eternal life in heaven. In Luke 12:40 Jesus said, “You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you

do not expect him.” Therefore, everything we do, every thought we think, and every action we take should be done with preparation for eternity in mind.

When an opportunity arises and you are faced with a decision, look at your choices in light of eternity. Use the five questions below to help you evaluate opportunities as they come along:

1. Will this opportunity make me more like Jesus?

2. Will it help me be more confident in sharing my faith?

3. Will it draw me closer to God?

4. Will it help me better understand God and His plan for my life?

5. Will it enable me to serve others more effectively?

I pray that you and I will be living daily with eternity in mind.

“...The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:11b-12

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me keep eternity in mind as I live from day to day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
