Let God Do the Rest

Bible Reading: Acts 2:21

Do you like the color of the walls in your room? If not, you can change it.

Do you like the color of your neighbor’s house? It doesn’t matter. That isn’t something you

can change. It’s something that you simply have to learn to live with. You don’t have any control over what color your neighbor paints his house. You can’t change it, so you have to accept it.

Whether the decisions are simple or complex, you can decide for yourself how to live your life. However, you can’t make choices for anyone else. Even when someone you love is making choices that you know will be harmful to him or her, you very often have to give the person and their bad choices to God and let go of them. You have to trust God to help that friend learn to make better choices.

The same is true for salvation. You can choose to let Jesus be a part of your life and you can choose to tell your friends about Jesus and pray for them, but you can’t accept Jesus for them. That choice is theirs alone. Acts 2:21 tells us that “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” As hard as it is, once you’ve told them about Jesus and prayed for them, you have to let go of them and let God do the rest because, “salvation comes from God” (Psalm 3:8a NLT).

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” 2 Corinthians 3:7

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m worried about my friend. Please work in his/her life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
