Bible Reading: Matthew 11:29
In Matthew 11:29 Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus was describing
what He was like at heart.
Then, while Jesus was living here on earth, He showed us by His example what kind of person God wants us to be.
* Jesus thought through the consequences of His words and actions before He said or did them. He knew exactly what He was saying and doing and how His words and actions would affect others.
* Jesus took responsibility for His words and actions. He didn’t try to blame other people or God for the bad things that happened to Him.
* Jesus always chose to speak or act in ways that were in the best interest of other people, putting their interests ahead of His own.
* Jesus was loving, kind, and respectful to everyone – even those people who hated Him.
* Jesus was always willing to forgive when forgiveness was sought.
What changes do you need to make in your life in order to follow Jesus’ example and be the kind of person that God wants you to be?
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1 & 2
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that my attitude and behavior should be like Yours. Help me to humbly follow Jesus’ example. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
