Knowing & Doing God's Will

Bible Reading: Mark 3:35 & Matthew 22:37-39

As Christians, our greatest desire should be to do the will of God. We should want to please Him in all we say and do.

How can we know that we are doing God’s will? How can we know that we are doing what God wants us to do?

First, you must know God’s will. Today’s Bible readings point us in the right direction. In Mark 3:35 Jesus said, “Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother.” Then in Matthew 22:37-39 He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

God’s will is the same for every person and has only two parts:

1. Love God and put Him first in your life.

2. Love other people more than you love yourself.

If everything you think, everything you say, and everything you do is aimed at obeying those two commands, you are doing God’s will.

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know what You want me to do. Help me to do it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
