Jesus, the Perfect Human...and the Perfect God

Bible Reading: Philippians 2:7, 8

Philippians 2:7 & 8 say “But made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled

himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross.” For about 33 years, Jesus was a human being. Jesus ate, drank, slept, walked, talked, went to school, studied God’s word, taught God’s word, prayed, was baptized, worked, went to weddings, attended parties, and did all of the other things that human beings do.

Jesus felt joy, sadness, contentment, satisfaction, anger compassion, pity, grief, and every other human emotion.

Jesus did everything that we do and experienced every emotion that we feel. He was completely human. He was at the same time, completely God and completely perfect. That was how He was able to flawlessly fulfill God’s command to obey God. Since Jesus was able to do that, He took a punishment he didn’t deserve and died in our place so that we could be forgiven for our inability to perfectly obey God.

Thank God for Jesus, the Perfect Human and for the forgiveness for sins that we have through Him.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to die in my place. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
